Will incest ever be accepted by society?

I think so. With gene editing technology to make it safe as well, it is only a question of time. It will come along like other legalisation of victimless crimes have.

 

My answer might sound a bit odd, it is not meant mean or disrespective in what way ever.

The question does not make sense without pointing onto the society you are referring to. Throughout the world there are many societies, each of them differing in its understanding of individuality versus corporality, religious reference (re-ligere = reference to a background or roots) and sexuality. Many, many ways of dealing with incest are given and some of them do differ to somewhere in the opposite of the views in the so-called western world, if we can say so at all. This even becomes multilayered if we consider time (timeline, history) additionally. Incest is there, it always was and always will be and the only question is, how we want to deal with it for the time being. (This accounts to other aspects of sexuality, that are not to be discussed here like beastiality e.g. just the same way. Including even social, cultural and biological aspects, the discussion will even be overwhelmingly spreading into many dimensions.)

What we don't want, is to inflict direct adult power, frankly forcing kids into it, which is impossible to separate from an inclusive way by natural curiosity and learning ultimatively. Taking this spectrum in action into consideration, under the judgment of "right" and "wrong" it will lead us into the most complicated differentiations and forms therefore into void or the most brutal "Yes" or "No". For the less developed it will be "No", since the adult power, which is always given somewhere to a certain amount, can be excluded best that way. At this point the discussion is about how to exclude best or most logic, in mere contradiction to its origin about what is given by nature and has to be dealt with, and we can see, why I have used the term "less developed" further above.

In these things, incest and questions about other aspects of sexuality or even of totally other nature with the same structure, it would be best, if we altogether could develop to a point, where it is possible to name negative, here abusive aspects, without sacrificing the positive sides (here a natural and inclusional way; not even mentioning the mind blowing relief, happiness and powerful constructive action, this forum is full of). I reckon for the so called "western world", yet this will take a long, irrative, errative and strongly meandering way of progradation, since the above mentioned thinking of "Yes" and "No", "drawing lines", "good" and "bad" and so on, you name it, has to be overcome and diminished into nothingness first.

Real incest is as old as the sands of time. Throughout time it has been accepted in various cultures as acceptable and normal. Although I don’t see western culture accepting it in my lifetime.

Hard to say, but it will be interesting.

Some have already pointed out how much mainstream and readily available porn is so widely varied now, on all sorts of topics featured that even just a decade ago were literally called "taboo".

Look at content and merchandise such as "Queen of Spades", "Cuckold", or "BBC" (just to name a few) not just on porn sites, but marketed on Amazon such as temporary tattoos, clothing, jewelry, and "how to" books

I agree that incest probably has a higher hill to climb than those examples, but then again many of those other examples were pretty "taboo" too for a long time and now those topics literally come up in normal conversations with people, if nothing else to comment on how mainstream it is Heck "swinging" was a prime-time television show a decade ago, and is just no big deal now, or so it seems.

Well the thing is that currently if we want this civilization to somehow continue incest is just not the way to go. Unless someone figures out a way to counter the genetic defects inbreeding causes it's not happening.

 

We already have the technology to detect and mitigate risk factors, but the criminalisation prevents consanguinous couples from accessing those services... So they have children anyway. The "reasons" given for the taboo are self-perpetuating. We CAN do better.

 

I think i would happen. If more people gets interested in incest they would do it secretly, even thought society don't accept it. (Especially mom son sexual relation)

 

I truly believe that as the world is on fire that it will return. But before that, like others said - it would take some brave people to start leading the movement.

Within swinging circles it is totally accepted and encouraged. I cannot see why it could not be accepted out side these circles

But really people need more education on building relationships at home(non sexual). I am amazed at some people saying, i haven't seen my brother for years, parents for years, dad was at work when i was growing up so i actually don't know him as a person, how he is. I don't know my sister or what she's likes, she is always in her room listening to something.... mom embrasses me a lot, i don't like her sometimes... Things go on. Real relationship building needs to be there
