    I wonder which direction that strike is going. From the tower to the clouds or from the clouds to the tower?

    I know that if it strikes the ground it could go either way. I just was not sure about to tall towers.

    The ground is negatively charged and the clouds are positively charged and electricity always flows from negative to positive. There are cases where lightning will go from one cloud to another but it will be from a lower positive cloud to a higher positive cloud.

    It works more like the cloud pulls the lightning to it, not the ground pushing it up.
