Aren't you Canadian? I'm America and I barely care about our politics as is. Its just stuff for news to make revenue off views. You can find awful (and possibly good) stuff about literally everyone in government, its just not worth the mental calories to care about.

 

Americans is not the correct name, though. America is a continent. And United States of America is not the whole of it. So.. Staters maybe? Canadians are Americans, or North Americans.
I think its a weird logic that Americans assume the continent is named after them.

American/Americans is the official nomenclature. We don't call ourselves United States of Americans. Canadians are citizens of Canada, Americans are citizens of The United States of America. We don't have to like or dislike it, but that's the nomenclature.

 

The continent is North America.

That is why I have always said "the USA" or "citizens of the USA" and not Americans.

The people of the USA and Canada are "Americans".

It is only because of the pompness of the people of the USA believe and refer to themselves as "Americans" and think no one else is.
