    All you need to do is make a pinhole with your fingers, which will help you focus the light coming into your retina. Sure, it won't give you 20/20 vision, but it's a good start if you've left your glasses at home.

    You'd be better off surviving a grenade blast on land rather than underwater ...

    Those balloons demonstrate what would happen to your lungs if an explosion went off near you underwater.

    The effect of the blast is more severe than on land because of the density of the water and its pressure.

    I never thought of that. When the EMP strikes, the only people with working electronics will be the prisoners (who aren't supposed to have them anyway).

    Saturn's rings are 'paper thin' ...

    To us here on Earth, Saturn's beautiful rings appear to be massively large. And that is because they are very wide across, and so they reflect a great amount of light. But also, they are extremely thin.

    So, what if Saturn's rings encircled the Earth ? Then from the Earth's equator, with Saturn's rings visible edge-on, they would appear as a thin, bright line bisecting the sky ...

    From Guatemala, only 14 degrees above the equator, the rings would begin to stretch across the horizon. Notice that their reflected light makes the moon look brighter, as well ...

    And further north, from Washington, D.C., the rings would still fill only a portion of the sky, but they would appear bigger and brighter nonetheless. Here is what they would look like there at sunrise ...

    But one thing researchers have been able to map out, is how the embryo folds to create the structures of the human face in the womb.

    Then facial deformities could potentially be corrected in-utero. No more cleft lips or palates. Who knows what else could be repaired this way. The next step would be genetic engineering. Sorta like GMO's we are already eating. Gives me the warm fuzzy feelings all over thinking we will all be treated like vegetables.

    Last big EMP to strike Earth was in 1859. If a similar EMP struck Earth today it would wipe out all electronics that were not highly shielded, meaning your cell phone and laptop. As for spacecraft and colonies on the Moon and Mars, they would require a large amount of shielding if humans expect to survive in those environments for decades.
