Who uses a VPN?

I do not yet use a VPN, this article was sent to me from a techy friend of mine, and it includes clear explanations.

He also assured me that the title means what it says :

I do not. Solely because none of my internet use could get me in trouble. It could embarrass me, but not get me in trouble. Plus, I met a guy some time back who worked in cyber security for a government who told me that all forms of encryption - even VPN's - can actually be cracked. He assured me that it was a false sense of security. Perhaps that's just what people in his line of work want people to believe... or he was telling the truth.

 

Well.....he may be telling the truth, but I simply cannot access this Forum without one.

 

Fair enough. If I lived in a country that takes the action yours does, I would definitely be using one too.

 

Of course given enough time anything can be cracked but that amount of time quickly becomes unrealistic. Once Quantum computers become more common place that will change but for now you are much safer using a VPN if you are using a Mobile device or on free WiFi.

I use a VPN as part of my job, and it bled over into home use as well for that extra layer of security.
