[IMG] ... The Eagle Has Landed.

I was glued to the television screen, and well remember that touchdown image.

Fifty years ago, on July 20, 1969 at approximately 20:17 UTC , Apollo 11 crew members Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin landed their Apollo Lunar Module 'Eagle' on the surface of the Moon.

I remember it well, we were all over to my grand parents for Sunday noon dinner, then after dinner we all piled into their living room around their console TV and watched the whole thing happen. My grandpa was in WW2, and I'll remember to this day, when they opened the flag he stood and saluted.

Then Neil Armstrong took this iconic photo of Buzz Aldrin climbing down the ladder onto the surface of the Moon ...

If you are a geek, buy the Saturn V lego set. You won't be disappointed

I actually had the Estes flying model rocket of the Saturn V back in the 70's. I launched it one time then put it on a shelf, it was close to 4 feet tall. Lost it along with everything else I owned in a tornado in 2003.

Oh yes physically we did, but insurance doesn't cover things that can never be replaced, like family photos, you just have to hope other family members have some to share.
