Running up town is not required to answer this question. Going to Gettysburg might be.

OK I am tired waiting around for Insp gadget to return so here is the answer to the problem.

The law of fluid dynamics states that for any fluid more massive than the local gravity that fluid must seek the lowest level possible.

Now look at the picture. Which box has its floor at the lowest level? On first glance you would say box H, But look closely at box H and you will see that the entry way is blocked off. So H is out of the question.

You might then say box G. It is just a tiny bit lower than box F but has its feeder lines coming in from above.

Actually the lowest level is he pipe running from 'box F to box L to box H. Box F has the lowest floor attached to the lowest level pipe so Box F is the correct answer. It is the box connected to the lowest level and by the law of fluid dynamics the lowest level must fill first. The closest box to the lowest level is box F

I don't know about fluid dynamics, but I too came to F because of communicating vessels.

Antares is correct. Translated from university professor bafflegab into plumbing terms, he said shit runs downhill.

Time for Mr. Monk to sign up for a physics class at the lowest level....avoids all that heavy math,

They used to use signal flags for that but today its mostly by radio.

You forgot to mention that the flow into box G comes from box D and the pipe going to box D is blocked so D, E and G never gets any fluid. And even though the feed from J to I is lower than the feed from J to L, the exit of the feed to I is higher than the entrance and exit to box L so the flow goes to L first.

Too much detail for these minds....lol.....Bottom line is the law of fluid dynamics. it must seek the lowest level. The floor of box F meets those requirements and thus will keep filling from the pressure below it.

Unless there is some kind of weird twist, yes F is the answer.

That's not the formula for heavy water. Heavy water is D2O.
