I've just turned on my Telly to catch up on the news as to what is going on in this world after finishing work for the day when this came on CNN as a "Breaking News" item.

First: My heartfelt condolences go out to those families affected by this SENSELESS act.
Second: I hope that those who are only wounded/injured have a very speedy recovery. I pray that they do (regardless of their religion/beliefs).

I am having great difficulty trying to fathom WHY?

These people were only there to have some fun and enjoy their artists playing MUSIC......??? Music is supposed to cross all borders and boundaries and bring people TOGETHER....
They were not there to offend or harm anyone....

A minimum of 50 killed (at this point in time) with at least 200 wounded/injured......

I can only pray that those harmed and the families of those killed can recover...

I would also like to suggest that anyone in the Las Vegas area goes to a local Medical Facility (RED CROSS?) and donate Blood to help those injured....

Now the list of injured / wounded has climbed past 400.........

    And still the question remains:

    WHY ?????
If you don't like that type of music, then don't go to a concert where they are playing that type of music....
I don't think I'll ever be able to understand this incident.

It is sad, and my neighbours have my condolences from here.

They will re-build, as they always do, regardless of whether the tragedy is natural or man-made - they are survivors.

I will add this. It was a COUNTRY concert. There is an above average chance you will hit a Con rather than a Lib. THe guy on stage is fairly Conservative if I remember right.

I'm not a fan of stereotyping people at a concert. These are PEOPLE....politics aside, I don't belive that this mad-man was out to kill conservatives or liberals....he was out to kill. Plain and simple!! Just as a deranged lunatic went to a school and killed children, or a UPS driver killed his co-workers in San Francisco a few months ago. I could go on and on......I heard something interesting however. We (Americans) get all riled up and call for change, we call for gun control, we call for our leaders to lead......but in a few days, a few weeks, we forget. We forget because it didn't really effect us personally. It didn't touch our lives, because we didn't know anyone who was shot and killed. So we let groups like the NRA and others lobby our politicians and leaders into believing that if they try to change the all mighty 2nd amendment....(which says we have the right to an armed militia, not to own sub-machine guns) that they will be thrown out of office. Grow a pair and stand up to these jack asses and stop the crap!!
I don't want to take your gun away, I don't want to take your fun away, I don't want to stomp on your rights.
What I want is for stupid evil people who have no intention to use guns properly (hunting, target shooting, protecting their family and property) to not have access to them. I want semi-automatic killing machines banned. I want people to use common sense.
Maybe I'm asking too much.....but please can't we as a nation come together and do SOMETHING to effect change???

I like what you are saying Mustang....when you go out hunting (hopefully so that you can put meat on the table for your family and not just so that you can go out killing...) you should be taking careful aim at what you are about to kill....also taking careful consideration of things like what is behind it if you should miss...the list goes on. And in doing all of this, you DO NOT need something that squirts out dozens of rounds a minute. One careful shot.!! That is all it should take, with a quick ability to reload just in case, and most rifles of today will achieve that.

And as you say - the 2nd allows for you to raise a militia in case you need to defend your local area. Well, you've now got your National Guard, as well as a pretty effective Defence Force, so I'm sure that everyone does not need to equip themselves as though they are a 1 man platoon armed to the teeth with the latest and greatest that will hose the whole countryside with lead. I mean for Gods sake, this guy in Vegas even tried to equip his guns with tracer rounds...?? Thank the good Lord he was not able to do so, or the toll may have been far greater.

You too make good points. I just want to add that my thoughts go back to the system in Germany and Europe in the 1930's...I could be wrong, but there was some form of gun control at that point, and because of it, people either gave up their guns or didn't own them. So when Hitler and the Nazi Party came to power (Mussolini and the fascists etc...) There was really no way to defend the minority parties. So it was either die or suffer under the hand of a well arm oppressor.
Again, I may have my facts wrong or taken out of context, but it sounds right. I do not want to take anyone's rights away, or their guns. I think that the people that want to hunt or protect themselves should be allowed to. They need to take care of their rights and use them wisely.
Thank you for understanding that you don't need the gun that shoots out 100 rounds a minute etc. Those are the weapons that we really don't need on the streets.

I've had several people tell me, "That would have NEVER happened in a Mob run casino."

This whole thing is a bunch of improbable events strung together into a staged cenario - and it smells all the way to up here.

The real question is why? What did he have to prove and who was he trying to hurt or impress? What was the motive? And why this particular venue? I've read and heard stories that he "cased" Chicago and was looking at Lolla-Palooza at Grant Park. The man had serious issues and planned and staged this far beyond that of most mass killers or assassins.
So far, very little has been brought to the public about this guy.....a loner, liked to go on binges of computer gambling games and was a high roller "known" to many in the Vegas Hotels as a big spender and big loser. He was given the room he used by the hotel for being a "high roller" who put down lots of cash at the gambling tables.

I just don't get it.....Thank goodness I'm not an FBI Profiler.

I will interject a solution that will not STOP, but likely will lower the incidences. STOP PUBLICIZING IT! Here is the way you handle it. "A shooter shot up Las Vegas and was killed. Here are the victims and not HIM for weeks."

I'm with buffyfan - we glorify these attention-seekers, and by doing so essentially promote copy-cats.

(I am still somewhat suspicious of the scenario, as well - this guy's name could be noise.)

Buffyfan could have quite a good point there. But I can see one slight hick-up with this line of thought:

    The Press.

It is always after some sort of story and will hound it to death - literally. Look what happened 20 years ago (almost to this day) when the paparazzi hounded the Queen of Hearts, Princess Diana. Unless you have extremely rigid control of the press, as there is in some countries like Egypt where there is an Al-Jazeera person in jail, and still awaiting trial, you cannot stop them. Especially in a country which values the freedom of speech like the USA.

    Nice thought though Buffyfan.

Press, just like Speech, is not universal and legally "unregulatable". I could make a case for the "yelling "FIRE!" exception" here. It is in the "public interest" that they dont name a shooter who is dead.

I guess that if Pres. Donald Trump had his way with the Press.......but I doubt that that will ever happen. He should learn to use them better to his advantage.

I had look this up. The Las Vegas shooter wasn't registered to vote in Nevada, though the reports do say that when he was in Florida he was a registered Democrat. Pretty much all the mass killing recently have been done by registered Democrats or come from a home where the parents were registered Democrats.

    Gee....what a co-incidence that is..??
