Have you been to any local town hall meetings? If you just ASK a question deemed inapropriate by the elected officials, they will have you arrested. Just for asking a question. So yes, freedom of speech (and hence thought) is under attack here in the States by left wing/socialist/liberal nut jobs.

Whats really sad is that some people actually endorse brutality

Yes, and worse; it is a growing trend with some groups.

Much sadder is that people actually think that a nonsensical meme image is an accurate account of either point in time.

It's not just the universities anymore, it starts in the public grade, and high schools. I pulled my son out of public school when I started asking him questions about civics and US History. He had no idea how bad Stalin or Lenin were, and they barely touch base when it comes to Hitler, they whitewash the holocaust to make it appear as bad as it was. He had no idea until I had him sit down with me and watch some shows on AHC American Hero's Channel, they have a large variety of shows about Hitler and Stalin. Like 6 episodes each covering from birth to death. Needless to say he was shocked at the blood shed. I'm lucky I have a son who still has an open mind, and soaks up information like a sponge.

Yeah, you're the second person I've heard recently say that schools are no longer teaching about such individuals. I find that disturbing at the very least, because all that does is give future generations the opportunity to become that kind of thing, or at the very least, allow those in authority to become them.

When history is dismissed and ignored, it gives a foothold to such things, and I can only pray that future generations do not have to go through something so horrible.

The History Channel & History Channel.com have a lot on Hitler, I think one is called Hunting Hitler, since some people think the one who shot himself was just double and not real Hitler. I agree though these school today teach nothing about American History or WW1 or WW2 and how evil Hitler & Mussolini, and Lenin and the whole axis of evil how evil they really were.

My nieces were never taught that we were at war with the Japanese in WW II. They believe we were all friends during that time. They never new about the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Terrible that they were not taught about one of the worse days in American History, and all those Soldiers and people who died in Hawaii

I saw this coming years ago when the schools here stopped making it a requirement that students pass a Federal and State Constitution test in order to graduate. I started seeing the changes in the history books back then, so every chance I found an old history book that covered from the 1960's back I snatched it up. Now I have 2 that my son uses on a regular basis, in addition to his regular book from school. His history teacher was blown away by the stuff he knew that she didn't. Thankfully she is a good teacher and asked if I could share the book with her, so I set down and scanned the whole thing into a PDF file for her. She emailed me back and said oh my god we don't teach half of this stuff, she was truly shocked at the amount of information that is glossed over and outright passed up. Mind you she is fresh out of college, just graduated into teaching 4 years ago.

They attended a private, religious academy. They learned ALL about the Bible, just not any of that "secular nonsense". History was not pertenent to the Bible. If it wasn't in the Bible, it didn't matter. Any discussions about any war was forbidden. That just promoted violence in the eyes of the academy leaders. Just to show how open minded these people were, they fired a teacher for having sex with her boyfriend out of wedlock! How they found this out I have no idea. Nor did she. They never told her to the best of my knowledge.

Did she sue the school, I would have. What she dose outside of the school should be her business not the school's, it's fine if that's your feeling or theirs, but just because that's their feeling about sex , doesn't mean they should be forcing their feeling about sex on to her and others.

If they think you shouldn't have sex before you get married that's their right , but she has a right too, to not share their ideology or feel it's ok to have sex even if you're not married yet.

Basically that's discrimination, and they really had no grounds to fire her. Actually they could be in trouble too, if they are not teaching all the courses required by state law, and are just picking and choosing what they think is escapable. The only way I see they can get away with it, is they are only religious school and they only teach about religion and the Bible, but that still wouldn't get them off the hook for firing the teacher because she and her boyfriend want to have sex outside school ground. Be different if she had sex with student, but with someone not from the school there really no grounds for firing.

They could have the right to fire her, if she signed a contract with a morals clause. If she didn't, then they could not fire her.

Case here in Cincinnati,Ohio. Catholic school teacher wasn't married and got pregnant via artificial insemination and then fired from her teaching position. Diocese was found liable as it violated
anti-discrimination laws. Jury awarded her $71,000 in back pay and $100,000 in punitive damages.
The school itself was found not liable as they were just following the orders of the diocese.

The school is in Ohio. There is a lot of things they never taught. The teacher was a music teacher.
