    Benefits are earned. Entitlements, for whatever reason, are bestowed

    Correct. We and the companies that we work for pay for our Social Security and Medicare benefits while we are working so that they are available for us when we retire.

    Something a person has a right to.
    You’ve earned it so you’re entitled to it

    To take advantage of or be given something by employer or state or someone else
    This is definitely not SS haha. You paid it you’re entitled to it so let’s calm down lol

    I paid into Social Security for 42 years so I'm entitled to reap the benefit of it in my old age.
