I have to think that the issues within the USA go farther than the usual 'Left/Right' harangue - that's just a smokescreen.

What if there were a faction within both sides, Democrat and Republican, which worked not to advance the wishes of the voters but rather to further their own agenda through causing dissension within the ranks.

Causing shutdowns, for example, and probes, and endless litigation, and impeachment threats, and so on - preventing things from being done, like an enemy working within. From both sides.

That's just a theory. of course, and can be easily dismissed as just a 'conspiracy theory'.

So why not put it to historical test - have other countries ever faced such an issue, and if so, how did they resolve the matter ? Go back to ancient times, for example Carthage and Alexandria. Europe through the middle ages, and perhaps even in the USA's own history.

Indeed, at the end they were - but they were in slow decline beforehand. We need to learn from history, I think.

If there are other countries whose governments were corroded from within (say 109 or so of them) then surely we can learn something from their experiences, so we don't have to keep re-inventing the wheel.

Learn from history.

 

Not aware / observed the trend on Youtube / Facebook, but yes, have seen discriminatory suspension (temporary / permanent) on Twitter. Especially the TwitterIndia. Came to know the the said entity is full of people with Leftist/Communist ideology and have seen suspending many prominent RW ideological people for just being logical or for asking/protesting something downright discriminatory. And the height was, when Twitter head recently visited India and was stood with people with a banner with racist narrative.
