A train, mass of 5000 tonnes, is travelling southbound on its track at 100 km/hr.
A bee, mass of 0.1 gms, is flying northbound on the centerline of the train track at 2 km/hr.
The bee hits the front of the train.
The question is, does the train stop?

No pm's needed, just post your answer and why.

    Yes.

Do you want my reasoning or is the answer sufficient?

Why don't you hold on to it for a little 'til we see what some others say?

    ;)

Yes, if the bee flies into the cab and distracts the engineer.

The train won't stop cause the bee didn't have a ticket.

The train was never going to stop - it was a freight train and does not pick-up passengers...LOL

    Cheers

The bee dropped the ticket when it hit the train.

I meant that considering my past performances in this area, would it be wise to choose a contrary position. Lol.

Okay, you got me there, so now the real reason:
I did it because I didn't want to present myself as a smart guy.
(whispering to Neophyte: ladies don't like too much smart guys but they love guys who make mistakes and also talk with a continental accent :) ).

It's as much a philosophical question as it is a technical one.

    Does the train stop?

animated_smiley_wink_face.gif I understand, but on the web they don't know what you look like, so if I ever meet them in person, I can act normal and they wouldn't know. Though I can't do the continental accent. :(
