that must be the lamest excuse to why porn should be banned.

That's really no excuse indeed! ... ANd to be honest I just don't get how he could really achieve to ban porn from internet, he'd have ti$o deal witha world-wide issue not only a domestic one, that's really too easy to watch porn no matter what restrictions ahve been implemented... unless he's willing ti imitate Kim Jung the North Korean dictator... which I just can't imagine...

It will never pass, and here's why:
    • It's not economically feasible.
    • It probably violates the 1st amendment (people actually do porn in the US, and that is their expression of self)
    • Too many people would fight against such a ban, and the people will ultimately win that fight, one way or the other.
    • It's ultimately unenforceable, since millions of people watch porn every day. Unless he wants to waste trillions of dollars just like Obama has, and lose the nation's support by jailing people for being horny, it's not happening.
    • The industry is actually better for the economy, since it generates new jobs in professional fields every year.
    • And of course the old Hollywood reality: Sex Sells (again, better for the economy)

Seriously? Does it seem to anybody who is sane, that a guy who was an active womanizer for most of his adult life and talks about grabbing pussies could actually give a fuck about porn? I could see him wanting to star in it before wanting to ban it.

Agreed. It's more likely that he 'signed that pledge' as a means to get extra votes, rather than promise to do anything. As far as I personally know, the man himself has never made a statement regarding the subject matter, and from what I've read, said subject matter has only come from said group, so it's likely that they've exaggerated the report on 'what trump said'.

Ashcroft attempted this and got some real stupid restrictions put in place. All they need is a Congress and an AG who are on the same page. By the time the USSC overturns it the damage will be done.

I dare say, passing something as idiotic as that, is an affront to the concept of freedom. If it becomes allowed to sue sites because people are offended by what's being displayed, after that person explicitly searches for that very content, then there will be no end to it. After that, it will be video sites and users, who have opposing viewpoints than the watcher.

And right after that they try to go against news sites, blogs, youtube videos and so on. Some people don't even think before they talk. Why do they get so much power to get influence over law and such stuff?

And now that I think about this, it's an even DUMBER idea than it first seems. Because think about what's going to happen to when somebody sues: Joe Pudwhacker is going to claim that watching Cum Guzzling Whores XXXVII on XHamster ruined his marriage. The first thing that XHamster's going to do is demand proof that he actually visited the site. So, not only is he going to have to turn over his browser history (and the contents of his PC) to the court (and thus making it public record), but XHamster is going to go through their logs and enter into the public record everything that they show coming from his IP address. So, not only will the fact that he watched CGWXXXVII be in there, but how long he watched it for (and possibly what parts he skipped, rewatched, or paused on), his entire search history on their site, and the total amount of time he spent on their site.

Can you imagine sitting there in court, while a lawyer plays a clip from a porno and describes how their logs show that you kept replaying this particular clip over and over for several minutes, and then closed your browser? Everybody in the courtroom is going to know that you were spankin' it while you were watching it. Additionally, if you're suing because of CGWXXXVII, but the logs show you spent more time watching Chicks With Dicks Doing Their Dads XXIII, than you did CGWXXXVII, it's going to be pretty hard explaining how the one movie ruined your marriage, but the other one didn't.

A broadside to one of the Government over reaches I have railed against for years. Why does the FCC get to set "language rules" on TV and Radio?

He might not be able to ban porn, technically, but the large search engines like google will probably follow his call to not show any porn links in the search results. They almost did it once with sex blogs, like you can read in this link deleted.

Forum rule: no links to other blogs, forums, or boards. CM

You probably know this, but in the US you can't broadcast or transmit wide area content without a FCC License. The FCC regulations are only guidelines and not law, so broadcasters are not restricted to following them. Here's the rub, if the FCC doesn't like you or what you do, they won't give you a license.
