I posted this on another thread and no one seem to know about it so now its time for the resident Sky Watcher, Jamie Jackson to try her luck.

Unless you live in the Southern Hemisphere you probably never even heard of this giant, the largest of all constellations to sail the skies.

Name it by its ancient name.

I don't think that Jamie is quite up to doing her sky watching at the moment...hopefully she will be back with us soon though.

Antares, I hope that you won't mind if I have a go at this, in Jamie's absence.

I think that it is 'Argo Navis' (the ship 'Argo'). Later, that constellation was split into three pieces ... Carina (the keel), Puppis (the poop deck), and Vela (the sails).

What think you ?

Argo Navis it is. Well done. An ancient constellation that very few if any have ever heard of especially in the Northern Hemisphere; Argo from the story of Jason and the Argonauts. There are other such constellations that are also unknown by most hobbyists.

This little guy was taken in recently, and after such a short time he looks so much better. It's a thing of beauty what they do for these little (and sometimes not as little) creatures. You can see the life in his eyes, his fur looks so much healthier. It's wonderful he'll have a home among other bats for the rest of his life, even though he can't be safely released.
